Study Tools
During your sessions with Phil, you can generate powerful study tools like flashcards, practice problems, and mind maps.
Flashcards
Ask Phil to create flashcards from what you're learning to help with memorization and review.
Requesting Flashcards
Simply ask Phil during your session:
- "Can you make flashcards for this?"
- "Create flashcards for everything we just covered"
- "Make me 10 flashcards about cellular respiration"
- "Generate flashcards from my textbook chapter" (if you've uploaded resources)
Accessing Flashcards
Flashcards appear in the Tools view during your session and are saved to your selection for later review. You can also create more flashcards from past sessions in your session history.
Practice Problems
Phil can generate custom practice problems tailored to your learning level and topic.
Requesting Problems
Ask Phil for practice problems:
- "Give me a practice problem"
- "Can you create some problems for me to work on?"
- "I need practice with quadratic equations"
- "Generate a challenging chemistry problem"
Working Through Problems
- Phil generates and reads the problem aloud
- Work through it at your own pace
- Share your answer by talking through your approach
- Phil provides feedback, hints, or full solutions
- Ask for a similar problem if you need more practice
Adjusting Difficulty
Tell Phil what you need: "Make it easier," "Give me a harder one," "AP-level question," etc. Phil tracks your performance and automatically adjusts difficulty.
Mind Maps
Visualize concepts and their relationships with AI-generated mind maps.
Creating Mind Maps
Ask Phil to create visual overviews:
- "Can you make a mind map of this?"
- "Show me how these concepts relate"
- "Create a visual overview of the Civil War"
- "Map out the parts of a cell"
Using Mind Maps
- For learning: Get the big picture before diving into details
- For review: See everything you've covered in one view
- For exams: Create comprehensive maps of entire units
- For connections: Show how different topics relate
Tools View in Stage Manager
During your session, click the "Tools" thumbnail in Stage Manager to see:
- All flashcards generated in this session
- Practice problems and your progress on them
- Mind maps created during the session
- Interactive interfaces for reviewing each tool
Everything is automatically saved to your selection when you end the session.
Resource-Based Study Tools
If you've uploaded resources to your selection (PDFs, documents, images), Phil can create study tools based on your actual course materials:
- "Make flashcards for Chapter 3 of my textbook"
- "Create practice problems based on my lecture slides"
- "Map out the diagram from page 47"
- "Generate questions from my class notes"
Tips for Using Study Tools
- Create flashcards during your session while concepts are fresh
- Do practice problems immediately after learning new concepts
- Start with a mind map to see the big picture
- Upload your textbook/notes so Phil can create targeted materials
- Review flashcards from past sessions regularly
- Ask Phil to generate more problems if you're struggling
- Combine tools: use mind maps to organize, then create flashcards for each branch
